Side is a shared, modular and multifunctional workstation, able to respond to the needs of different kinds of users. Is a table able to close itself, greatly reducing the space occupied, but still maintaining a function, blackboard for meetings or presentations. Designed for coworking spaces, Side adapts to these environments thanks to its remarkable functionality and its elegant appearance.
Research
Our research began with a draft of all the spaces available in Milan. After a selection, the on-site analysis began, where, through the vision of daily activities and the interview of the usual users of the place, we were able to put together a good amount of information. After some reflections, the main problem that seemed to us the most evident was space and its organization.
The analysis was carried out by visiting the coworking in Milan.

full and confusing spaces.
Need for spaces to organize meetings.
Need to have spaces where to organize ideas.
Need for a shared and functional work space.

Ideation
Our response to the problem was a multifunctional table, with the ability to adapt to different situations, without leaving aside the aesthetic that is often sought within these spaces.

Details
Side can turn into a whiteboard, simply by removing the connection bar at the top of the structure and moving the two sides together. The plane runs on rails that can make it rotate, turning the table into a whi - teboard. The module is equipped with a white, black or grey painted me - tal structure, with legs of different cross sections, between 10x7mm and 15x7mm. The table tops are in MDF or ISB 35mm. The blackboard wall is in glossy white HDPE.

Flexible workplace
Based on an elegant and simple aesthetic, Side solves the current requirements of a flexible workplace, offering a versatile module that can change from a shared workstation to a place of concentration and focus, necessary for daily work.

Prototype

The prototyping took place in multiple stages. The prototype was created in 1:4 scale, cutting and smoothing the wood in the polytechnic laboratory, and then painting it with the chosen colours and applying a layer of gloss paint to recreate the effect of the original material. The prototype is a working prototype, to allow a hypothetical customer to see the actual operation of the product.

Communication
For this project we also created a communication poster that had to fit into the aesthetics of the chosen company, in our case “fantoni”.
